An ASDA collection - Derek and Evelyn Stickland with emergency bottles inthe foreground.
OUR BOTTLE scheme, launched in 2001, provides the emergency services and other professionals with the vital details of any illness, allergy, medication, doctor, next of kin, someone to contact and even if a pet is around, should they be called to that person's home as the result of a sudden illness or personal accident. All this information is on a completed form in the container.
Details of the individual which is completed by them or their representative is stored in a small plastic container hence "The Bottle" which is kept in the fridge. This is considered to be a place in each individual house that is easily found, as opposed to a cupboard.
To alert the emergency services of the existence of this ‘Bottle’ a small sticker is placed in an obvious place inside the front door and another on the fridge door. Hopefully the bottle with it’s information will not be required, but it does give a real comfort factor to those utilise this simple facility.
